Saucy is a typeface inspired by a moment in the kitchen. While working as a cook, I would always garnish our gazpacho with olive oil. One day I came to the realization that the viscosity of the gazpacho held the shape of the olive oil. This observation led me to experiment with creating letterforms out of olive oil. The result is Saucy, a typeface that blurs the line between food and graphic design. This project explores the intersection of culinary practice, material experimentation, and type design, turning a simple culinary observation into a unique visual language.
The "e" is my favorite letterform in Saucy and even though "Saucey" is the incorrect spelling, I sometimes sneak in the "e" out of love for the letter :).
